In December 2003, Kathrin Futter together with René Haller of the Baobab Trust led a pilot seminar designed for Kenyan primary school teachers. The goal was to enable teachers to pursue environmental education and to thus promote their students’ environment awareness. Teaching staff should be encouraged to engage actively in schools through well structured and concrete suggestions rather than through large-scale projects concerning entire regions. The „Haller Park“ – a showcase project centered on sustained environmental restauration – turned out to be the perfect place for this seminar.

ProZim is an non-profit, non-politica., non-religious organization located in Switzerland. Its aim is to support educaational development through direct collaboration with institutions and individudals in East Africa at minimal administrative costs. ProZim was founded in December 2002. Since 2003, donations to the organization are tax-exempt. ProZim takes its name from the Zimlati Primary School, situated 30 km from Mombasa, the first school profiting from the program.
