In December 2003, Kathrin Futter together with René Haller of the Baobab Trust led a pilot seminar designed for Kenyan primary school teachers. The goal was to enable teachers to pursue environmental education and to thus promote their students’ environmental awareness. The focus has been to encourage teaching staff to actively engage their schools through well structured and concrete suggestions rather than through large-scale projects concerning entire regions. The Haller Park – a showcase project centered on sustainable environmental restoration – turned out to be the perfect place for this seminar.
